Executive Presence
for Women of Waste (WoW!) West
A program for Women in the Waste, Recycling and Environmental Industries
The Executive Presence for Women in Waste course is a live, online cohort-based training program designed to help you develop a set of vital life skills that can lead to accelerated career advancement opportunities and increased success.
Learn to command respect, influence others, and effectively advocate for yourself and your clients all with the guidance of pioneering trainer and much sought-after coach, Judy Sims.

Brought to you by:

Investing in your executive presence is one of the most important steps you can take to accelerate your career as a woman in a male dominated industry.
As a woman in the waste industry, you've faced unique challenges in your career.
You’ve worked hard to establish your credibility and expertise, but you may still find yourself struggling to be heard and seen as a leader.
Climbing the ladder in a male dominated industry can feel like navigating a maze. Women are every bit as committed and ambitious as men. And yet, unconscious bias, lack of representation in senior leadership, and a lack of mentoring and networking opportunities causes them to be overlooked. This leaves many women frustrated and doubting themselves.
Then someone suggests you "work on your executive presence".
Cool. What does that mean exactly?
No one can tell you.
That's because executive presence isn't a personality trait. It's the story people tell about you when you're not in the room. In industries where most of the people telling that story are men, they write women's stories with less information and more bias. Some of that is a system problem. Some of it is a pattern you can change.
You need to know which is which.

The assessment
Before the first session, you'll take the Executive Presence Assessment. Judy built it around the patterns she sees again and again in her coaching, and it asks different questions depending on the scope of your role:
-
Individual contributor: you're responsible for your own work
-
Manager: you lead a team
-
Director: you lead people who lead people
(We ask what you actually do, not your title.)
Your results show you which of four patterns shape how people see you:
The Capable Executor
You get things done, reliably and well. So well, that everyone wants you exactly where you are.
The Invisible
Expert
You're the one who knows how everything works. The people making decisions about your career don't actually know that.
The Hopeful Waiter
You're doing the work and trusting it will be noticed. It isn't, or not the way you'd hoped.
The Well-Rounded Leader
Your skills aren't the problem. Something around you is: no sponsor, no clear path, or a culture working against you.
Then you get a workbook that speaks to your pattern at your level.
A woman who leads a team faces different problems than one who's two years into her first role. Her executive presence strategy is different too.
If your results show that imposter syndrome and perfectionism, giving and receiving feedback, or being the only woman in the room are getting in your way, you'll get a focused workbook for each of those as well.
This isn't a personality test, and we're not labeling you. We're giving you a starting point. Most women read their results and think, "Oh. That's me."
That moment of recognition is where change starts.
You'll leave this course with:
Clarity about what's actually holding you back.
Know your pattern, at your level, in plain language. No more guessing which advice applies to you.

Confidence in the face of unconscious bias.
Understand the authority gap and unconscious bias well enough to stop taking them personally, and to respond from a position of real authority.

A cohort of women who get it.
Other women in your industry who know exactly what you're dealing with. These relationships tend to last well beyond the five weeks.

What makes this training different.
It's Personalized. The Executive Presence Assessment and workbooks provide insights and strategies that address your patterns at your level. This isn't a one-size-fits-all experience.
It's highly interactive.
Throughout the program, participants will interact directly with course instructor, Judy Sims, as well as the other women in the cohort. They will share their thoughts and feelings, ask questions, and offer their experience as support to others.
It's designed to last.
Participants will learn a set of skills that will support them and their dreams for the rest of their lives. Never again will they hesitate to go for that promotion or to launch that ambitious project.
It's based in the real world.
As an executive coach, Judy Sims works 1:1 with leaders everyday, giving her intimate, first-hand knowledge of the challenges they face. Because of this, Judy is able to go beyond theory in her training by providing anonymized real-world examples to illustrate the training concepts. This creates a richer participant experience that deepens understanding and drives the training home.

You're in the right place if you're...

Frustrated
with the trajectory of your career and your life and you suspect you might be getting in your own way.

Yearning

How we'll learn together:
It starts with you
Your assessment results shape what you focus on from week one. Your workbooks give you exercises and experiments for your specific pattern, so the time between sessions isn't spent on things that don't apply to you.
Videos, exercises and in-class discussions
Each week, you'll unlock new content as you explore what's been holding you back and discover your expansive self. In class, we'll deepen your understanding as you and your cohort members ask questions and receive coaching from your instructor.
Peer-to-peer support and collaboration
This is where the magic really happens. In session, participants learn to support and coach each other. This builds the foundation for lasting relationships with fellow expansive women.
